// About

Junction 25 are a group of young people aged between 12 and 17 making Contemporary Theatre and Performance works as part of the wider programme of Performance and Visual art presented at Tramway. Since forming in 2005, Junction 25 take part in weekly workshops where they engage in a collaborative process in order to create original and personal performance works.

Since it’s conception Junction 25 have created and performed a number of performances both at Tramway and in alternative spaces around Glasgow. Some of these pieces have won rave reviews and have gone on to be presented at Imaginate’s WYSIWYG 2006 and Promote YT’s National Festival of Youth Theatre 2006. Most recently Junction 25 have performed From Where I’m Standing at Promote YT’s NFYT 2008 in Aberdeen, and have performed it as part of the In To The New festival during New Moves international 2009.

A Summary of how the Project has developed

Junction 25 has now been successfully resident at Tramway for almost three years, it was conceived, developed and has been led by two Glasgow based artists, Tashi Gore and Jess Thorpe. They have established a young company that engages in collaborative processes to devise original performance work and have created a number of pieces.

Junction 25 now works towards developing two pieces a year

Originally the group met for three hours a week on a Sunday afternoon after a year it was decided that this was not an ideal time for the young people and it was moved to a Wednesday night. Since this has happened our numbers have increased.

Being included in national festivals has allowed the young people to further present their work to other audiences and served to promote the name of J25, RSAMD and Tramway.

Collaborations such as Twenty Questions with the residents of Nithsdale Lodge Seniors Home and the recent project with their own families has further developed the scope and reach of Junction 25 and helped to be extremely active in their local community as well as created a positive profile for young people in the arts.
